Endorsements

Our campaign values Experts, not agendas!

My Name is Nutaaq Doreen Simmonds, and I am writing to endorse Meda DeWitt for Governor of Alaska.

I am Inupiaq from Utqiagvik, with 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Recently, it has been my great joy and honor to take part as an actress in the Netflix series North of North.

I am always so impressed to see Meda’s leadership in action. Her way of listening and communicating with people is so effective. Watching her wrangle dozens of people who don’t know each other well and are from all over the country to work together and push a plan forward gives me great confidence in her ability to lead us as Governor.

Her knowledge of our plants, not just as food, but as medicine means so much to me. She knows our land is sacred, and I know she will help us protect and preserve it for our future generations.

That’s why I am voting for Meda!

I am Tom Harris, and I am writing to formally endorse Meda Dewitt for Governor of Alaska.

As a born and raised Alaskan, it has been my life’s work to restore Alaska’s status as our nation’s premier wildlife habitat.  Just over five decades ago, Alaska became the only state in the nation to deny and deprive Alaskan citizens of one single right freely granted to the citizens of every other state in the nation, including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. That single legal right, is simply to be considered as a completing interest partner in the management of wildlife resources, especially on lands citizens own, lease or permit. That right is known as Private Land Wildlife Management in the rest of the nation.

Because that right has been withheld from all Alaskan citizens, in the last 5 decades, Alaska has:

A.    Lost as much as 90% of its historical wildlife harvest

B.    Lost as much as 90% of its historical salmon harvests statewide

C.    Lost over $5 billion in federal wildlife habitat funding (USDA NRCS, CRP, WLFW)

D.    Lost Billions in National Interest Project Development due to depleted wildlife resources

E.     Been documented as the least productive wildlife habitat in the nation

While this information was unknown to most Alaskans, at least six gubernatorial candidates are aware these are facts. Only one candidate, Meda Dewitt, has had the foresight and fortitude to make restoration of this Citizen right, and the restoration of Alaska’s wildlife resources a core component of her campaign.

Meda Dewitt clearly sees the restoration of Alaska wildlife as critical to the future of all Alaskans. Meda appears to be the only candidate serious about doing what’s necessary to restore our state’s economy and wildlife resources by developing action plans and the infrastructure needed to ensure that Alaska and Alaskans not only survive but also thrives.

I have had the privilege of witnessing her leadership firsthand, and I am confident that she will guide our state’s leadership toward a far more prosperous and responsible future, respectfully challenging and rejecting the failed practices and policies of the past, by embracing principles proven and accepted nationwide in restoring wildlife, promoting development and protecting citizen rights, as completing interests for the benefit of all Alaskans.

I urge all voters to recognize Meda as the candidate of courage and action that our State so desperately needs.

Sincerely,
Tom Harris

Victoria Hykes-Steere says, I am thrilled to write this letter to formally endorse your candidacy for governor of Alaska. Alaska’s greatest asset is its diversity. Few people have traveled across the state to see and hear from rural, semi-rural, and urban centers what the needs are. Your solutions-based approach will encourage

For over twenty years I witnessed your skills in diplomacy, as you sought out experts to address the energy, transportation, health, food security, and other issues Alaskans are facing.  You have cultivated friendships across the political, economic, and social spectrums in a way I have not seen since the late State Senator Al Adams and Governor Hammond along with former AFN President Julie Kita.

All the best. Your platform addresses the needs of all Alaskans.
